...everything can be taken away from us.
This is what I've been thinking since Ondoy devastated the Philippines. I've always known that but that recent event just made me think about it much more.
A few days after the Philippines experienced one devastating natural calamity, other countries also experienced their own.
Tuesday [Sept. 29], an
8.0 magnitude earthquake was experienced off the Samoas which resulted to four tsunami waves measuring 15 - 20 ft. As of now, there are about 150 casualties, mostly children and old people. An alert was issued for the tsunamis but it came so quickly that people didn't have the chance to escape the deadly waves.
Wednesday, [Sept 30], Indonesia was rocked by a
7.6 magnitude earthquake. Thursday, another strong earthquake was felt in the same region. Death toll has reached more than 500 as of this writing. Thousands are still believed to be trapped in debris. The death toll is expected to keep rising in the days to come.
It seems Mother Nature is a bit restless lately. I am hoping and praying that there will be no more calamities in the days to come.
Right now, Filipinos are bracing themselves again for another storm that's threatening the country. They are calling it a
Super Typhoon named Pepeng [Intl name: PARMA]. It looks like it's taking the same path as Ondoy took which is kind of scary. Everyone's praying that it changes course to spare those who were affected by Ondoy. Here's an image I lifted from
Philippine Daily Inquirer site.
