When Oh When ????

Can I start a garden here in our new place? I really have no clue whatsoever on what I will be doing but I really don't know when and how to start!

We have this really big backyard and I want to start some kind of a vegetable garden so we don't have to deal with all the 'salmonella' outbreak that's becoming way too common around here. I want some lettuce and tomatoes and some other veggies that I can grow myself.

In front of the house, we have the flower beds. We already did the weeding so we can start anytime. My problem again is: I don't have a clue what to plant. Maybe roses or some other flowers.

The main problem right now is the weather. It seems that since we moved here, it's been raining non-stop...except today. It does not rain the whole day through but it rains hard when it does.

So now I'm back to my original question: When Oh When????
