Yep, that's according to the labor bureau in Japan. You see, there was this 45 year old man who died because of
overworking. What's overworking?? According to the news, he worked about 80 hours overtime a month!
Hmm...I just asked the husband how much overtime he works when they're busy...he said about 40 hrs/week! That's about 200 hours a month! Way more than the OT that the man was putting in at his work. So why would they blame 'overworking' then as the reason for this Japanese man's death?
I think it's not just the "OT" per se that killed him. Before he died, he was said to be in a lot of pressures as he was the lead engineer at Toyota that's developing a hybrid version of their Camry car. He was also sent abroad a lot.
I guess being overworked is more than counting the number of OT hours one clocks in. It has to be a combination of a lot of things.
Well, he was the second [on record] Toyota employee who died because of work related issues. This man was much younger as he was only 30 years old. Wow!
